At Brent House we aim to serve quality traditional food, which where possible is fresh, seasonal and local, helped by a group of local suppliers we have been using for many years.
We deal with a cuple of local butchers and have been dealing with one since the early 1970’s F Griffiths & Son firstly with Fred and now with his sons Paul and Mark and now Fred’s grandson Michael has joined the team, supplying us with beautiful English turkeys, west country pork and lamb. Mark a local supplier we use for most of our fresh vegetables and fruit which is always top quality and seasonal we do also try to use locally produced produce if possible.
Our desserts are either freshly produced here in the West Country or we make them ourselves, our dairy ice cream is from Marshfield Farm near Bath, they have some fantastic flavours for you to choose from. Our cream which we think is just fantastic and is produced by Cottrell family at Gundenham Daity producing the most fantastic double and supplying us a beautiful Cornish Clotted Cream for our restaurant. They also supply their fantastic milk and along with West Country free range eggs supplied by another local company help us make the perfect Yorkshire puddings.
We also try to give you a local flavour at the bar, with Butcombe price winning Real ale and there draught cider Aston Press produced in partnership with Thatcher’s cider, we now also have a new exciting range of bottled cider Norcotts Cider from Chris Norcott, Chris comments: “As you would expect, the range incorporates a traditional apple and pear cider. These have their own unique recipes and are made by local West Country craftsmen. But additionally, I have developed three fruit flavours which have a distinctly seasonal focus – Elderflower, Raspberry & Orange and Cranberry.’
If you are a local producer and would like to tell us about a product you think we would like please give us a call.
